Trusona has unveiled a new mobile authentication solution that allows people to use their mobile devices to verify their identities without using a mobile app. Users can instead visit a mobile web page and complete a simple interaction to confirm their credentials.
The solution leverages a FIDO-certified cloud server, and is built to meet the latest FIDO2 and WebAuthn standards, which cover both iOS and Android devices. Trusona believes that its technology will encourage more people to adopt passwordless authentication protocols, since the solution does not rely on app adoption rates and can still be effective even if individual employees are wary about installing an employer-mandated app on their devices.
Trusona currently has a patent pending for the new solution, which is being billed as the industry’s first app-less multi-factor authentication (MFA) option. However, those who are interested can deploy the solution in conjunction with a dedicated mobile app.
